Everything you need to know before joining
F1Tips is a private prediction game for Formula 1 fans. Before each race weekend, you predict the top 3 finishers for qualifying, the sprint (where applicable), and the race — plus a bonus P10 prediction. Points are scored based on how accurate your predictions are, and you compete on a season-long leaderboard against other members.
Yes — completely free. There's no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no catch. F1Tips is a community game run for fun.
Not at all! While F1 knowledge helps, the game is designed to be enjoyable for casual fans and hardcore followers alike. The scoring system means that even imperfect predictions earn points — there's plenty of room for friendly rivalry regardless of your expertise.
F1Tips is a private community. Registrations require admin approval, so membership is intentionally kept small and personal. If someone shared the link with you, welcome — you're in the right place!
Click the Register button and fill in your name, email address, a display name (alias), and a password. That's it — the form takes less than a minute to complete.
There are two steps before your account is active:
Both steps are usually completed quickly, but admin approval is a manual process so timing may vary.
No — anyone can register via the standard form and your account will be reviewed by an admin. If you have an invite link from an existing member, you can use that instead. Invited registrations are approved immediately without waiting for admin review, so it's the fastest way to get started.
After registering, check your inbox for an email from F1Tips containing a "magic link" button. Clicking it confirms your email address is real and accessible. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. You can also request a new verification email if needed.
You'll receive an email from F1Tips confirming your approval. The email will also include your season registration status and details about the next upcoming race deadline so you can hit the ground running.
Your alias is the name displayed on leaderboards and throughout the site — it's how other players will know you. It must be unique and can be anything you like (a nickname, a team name, etc.). You can always change it later from your Profile page.
Yes, as long as registration is still open. Season registration closes when Round 5 qualifying starts. If you register before that point and are approved in time, you'll be entered into the current season's competition. After that cutoff, you're very welcome to register for next season!
By Round 5 the season is well underway, so joining too late would be unfair on other competitors. The cutoff keeps the competition balanced and enjoyable for everyone.
Your account will still be created and approved — you'll just be registered for the next season automatically when it begins. You won't miss out; you'll be ready to go from Round 1 next year.
Deadlines vary by race weekend type:
You'll receive email reminders 5 days and 24 hours before each deadline (configurable in your profile once you're a member).
For each race weekend you predict the top 3 finishing positions for qualifying, the sprint (if it's a sprint weekend), and the main race — plus a strategic P10 bonus prediction for the race. The P10 prediction is worth 10 points if correct, making it a great opportunity to score big.
Points are awarded based on how close your prediction is to the actual result. Exact predictions score more, but you still earn points for near-misses. Once you're a member, the full scoring breakdown is available on the Scoring Rules page.
Missing a deadline isn't the end of the world. The system applies a small penalty (the lowest scorer's points minus 5, minimum 0) rather than a zero — so one missed race won't ruin your entire season, but submitting tips, even imperfect ones, is always the better play.
Yes! Once you're a member, you can create or join a private group with friends, family, or colleagues. Groups have their own leaderboard so you can compete head-to-head with the people you choose, as well as on the global leaderboard.
You'll receive:
Email reminders can be disabled at any time from your profile settings.
First, check your spam or junk folder. If it's not there, visit the resend verification page to request a new one. Make sure to enter the same email address you registered with.
Yes — admin approval is a manual step and may take a little time. If you're in a hurry (e.g. a race deadline is approaching), ask an existing member to send you an invite link, which bypasses admin review entirely.
If you're experiencing a technical problem with registration, reach out to an existing member who can flag it to the site admin, or email us directly at .
